GoDex RT700 Printer

This guide will take you through the installation and setup of the GoDex RT700 Printer. Please note that these instructions are for Windows computers.

Installing the Printer Driver

First, you will need to load the ribbon and labels into the printer. This video will show how to do so.

Once this has been done, you will then need to download the latest copy of the GoDex Driver: https://www.seagullscientific.com/downloads/printer-drivers/godex-rt700/
Save the file and run it. Follow the on-screen instructions. You will need to have the printer plugged in and connected to the computer.

If you are reinstalling the printer drivers, you will first need to uninstall the drivers using the same installer, then install. You may need to restart your computer.

Once the driver is installed, you will need to configure it by going to Start > Settings > Printers & Scanners. Click on the GoDex RT700, then click Manage > Printer properties.
Go to the Advanced tab and click Printing Defaults...

  1. Go to the Page Setup tab
    • Click Edit on the Stock section
    • Enter the Width and Height as 100.0 mm and the Exposed Liner widths to 1.3 mm, as shown below
    • Click OK
    • Using the dropdown list, delete the other labels
    • Click New... to add a new label
    • Enter the name as CaskLabel100 and use the same measurement as previous
    • Click OK
  2. Go to the Stock Tab
    • Change the Print Method to Thermal Transfer (Direct thermal will cause the ink to wash off your labels in the rain!)
    • Under Printer Adjustments, the Stop Position should be set to 16.0 mm Absolute, as shown below
  3. Go to the Options tab
    • Untick both options
    • Change the Print Speed to 76.20 mm/sec
    • Change the Darkness to 6
  4. Click Apply and OK

Once this has been done, go to the General tab in Printer Properties, then click Preferences. Repeat the above steps.

Now go to the Tools tab and select Action > Reset Printer. Once the Printer shows the ready light, it is ready to use.

Label Line Up

If the label is either not feeding all the way through or is going into the next label, please follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Turn the printer back on whilst holding the feed key down. When the lights flash red, release the button.
  3. The printer will print some status information and line up correctly. You can check this by pressing the feed key.

If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to make changes to the driver.
Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select the GoDex RT700 and click Manage. Then click Printer Properties.

  1. Go to the General tab and select Preferences
  2. Go to the Stock tab
  3. Ensure that the Position Adjustments are set as shown below:
  4. Click Apply and Ok.

Horizontal Adjustment

If the labels are printing too far to the left or right, you will need to make adjustments in the driver.

Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select the GoDex RT700 and click Manage. Then click Printer Properties.

  1. Go to the General tab and select Preferences
  2. Go to the Page Setup tab
  3. Click Advanced Options...
  4. In the Printing Position tab, you can adjust the Horizontal Offset. If the printing is too far to the left, you will need to decrease this number (using negative numbers if already at 0). If it is printing too far to the right, increase the number
  5. Click Apply and OK
